Suspect Surrenders and Faces Charges Over Rhode Island Avenue Armed Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department has reported an arrest linked to the armed robbery that happened earlier this year on Rhode Island Avenue, with the suspect surrendering himself to the authorities. On May 11, around 2:50 p.m., a man threatened victims with a firearm and demanded their possessions in the 1800 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, the victims were unharmed although they lost property to the assailant who subsequently fled the scene.

Following the incident and ongoing investigation, on Sunday, 23-year-old Mustafa Carter of Northeast, DC turned himself in at the Fifth District Station, which led to his arrest on charges. Carter is now facing charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During a Crime Of Violence, according to theofficial MPD announcementreleased on Monday.

In their public statement, theMPDhas not disclosed additional information on what may have led Carter to surrender, or if the stolen property was recovered, by providing basic details of the arrest.
