Teen Arrested for Deadly Detroit Shooting Mother Killed, Son Injured

The shooting death of a Detroit mother and the injuries to her son are attributed to a 15-year-old from Clinton Township.

When Tasneen Sherrod, 42, and her 15-year-old son got into a violent confrontation, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office claims Anthony Deshawn Sneed stole a revolver from Sherrod’s son and fired it multiple times, killing Sherrod and injuring her son.

Before turning himself in to Detroit police on September 5, Sneed allegedly left the site.

A shooting was reported in the 18000 block of Runyon Street around 8:10 p.m. on September 4, prompting the response of Detroit police.

Upon arrival, Sherrod and her kid were discovered by the police outside a house, both of them with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sherrod was subsequently declared dead at the local hospital after both of them were admitted.

On the night of the shooting, Commander John Svec of the Detroit police department said, “It’s just one of those things that doesn’t make sense. You got two people over here, associates, hanging out, and all of a sudden they get into an argument; it escalates, and we got two people shot. It’s just ridiculous.”

Sneed is accused of second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, armed robbery, four counts of felonious firearm possession, and felony murder—a charge that is being tried as an adult. At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, he will be arraigned.
