Teenager Dies After Being Ejected in Franklin County Crash on I-64, Kentucky State Police Investigating

FRANKFORT, Ky.(DDN) – The Kentucky State Police Department (KSP) is investigating a crash on Interstate 64 in Franklin County.

According to a news release, it occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday at the 59-mile marker westbound.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Earl Ragland was driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander west on I-64 when it collided with a 2020 Toyota Corolla. According to reports, Ragland’s Highlander off the road and collided with a rock embankment.

According to troopers, a 16-year-old Fayette County lad was ejected from the Highlander and suffered critical injuries.

He was transferred to Frankfort Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

An inquiry into the crash is ongoing.
