. Access to Juniper Way Loop from Gateway Road will be off-limits to ensure the safety of park visitors and the construction teams hard at work.

In detail, the closures will affect inbound traffic along Gateway Road, which will be completely closed starting next Monday until the end of the working week. Despite these restrictions, the beloved park will remain accessible to visitors, who are encouraged to use alternate paths during the construction period. For those on foot, the Gateway Trail to Bretag Trail will remain an open route, while cyclists and motorists are advised to enter through other entrances such as Balanced Rock, Ridge Road, or Beckers Lane.

As part of the project’s efforts to improve water infrastructure and enhance safety, several collaborative teams are involved, including Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, Colorado Springs Utilities, the Colorado Springs Fire Department, and the Office of Accessibility. While these improvements promise long-term benefits, park enthusiasts will need to be mindful of the temporary adjustments. Parking Lot 1 and the reopened restrooms in Parking Lot 2 serve as accessible facilities amidst the ongoing construction.

For convenience, a shuttle service is planned, running from Parking Lot 1 into Garden of the Gods Park. The free shuttles are set to operate from Friday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It should be noted, however, that the service will take a pause on Monday, Nov. 18, and Friday, Nov. 22. Meanwhile, Parking Lot 4 faces a more prolonged closure, expected to continue until spring 2025, and the Central Garden trail from Gateway Rd. to the same parking lot is also closed. Adventurous visitors looking for climbing routes will find alternatives suggested on the park’s official website, or by inquiring directly with park staff at 719-634-6666.
