HOUSTON, Tex. (DDN) – The man suspected of attacking a 7-year-old girl on her way home from school last month in the Woodland Heights area has been added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List.
Carlos Jose Ayala Morales, 43, has been added to the list by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Officials with the US Marshals confirmed to KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force is involved in the search for Ayala.
Ayala is presently wanted in Harris County for attempted indecency with a child through sexual contact. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on January 27. HPD stated that Ayala “inappropriately grabbed and touched” the girl when she was strolling in the 800 block of Omar Street.
Ayala was born in Honduras and has a criminal record that includes a conviction in 2000 for burglary of a Dallas building, which resulted in a six-month imprisonment sentence.
In 2018, he was found guilty of escaping arrest with a vehicle and three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, involving two 14-year-old girls and one 12-year-old girl. He was also convicted of indecency with a child by exposure of an 8-year-old girl. Several of these attacks occurred while the victims were walking home from school, as is the case with his current allegation.

Ayala was sentenced to seven years in prison for each of his previous sexual assaults, which will be served concurrently. He was released from a Texas Department of Criminal Justice institution in 2024.
Ayala is reported as standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 130 pounds. He’s got tattoos on his abdomen, back, right hand, and both arms.
Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can also submit tips via the DPS website or Facebook.
