They Were Part of Our Family”: Fayette County House Fire Kills 6 Pets

EVERSON, Pa. — A devastating house fire on Christmas Eve has left a Fayette County family grieving the loss of their beloved pets and their home.

Tina Donaldson and her husband’s home on Maple Street in Everson was engulfed in flames while she was at work. By the time she arrived, firefighters had tried to save her pets, administering oxygen to the dogs, but it was too late.

“I will miss my dog the most. Blue was my buddy,” Donaldson said, her voice filled with emotion as she described her German shepherd, Blue.

The fire claimed the lives of the family’s four dogs and two cats. Donaldson shared the heartbreaking moment she collapsed next to Blue when she arrived at the scene.

“Truly don’t know what to do with myself anymore,” she said, overwhelmed by the loss.

The fire not only destroyed their home, leaving a large hole in the dining room, but also took away what mattered most to the family—their pets.

Tina’s daughter-in-law, Meagan Donaldson, reflected on the close bond she had with Poppy, one of the family’s dogs. “I’ve been there since he was a puppy,” she said. “I actually have pictures of me and him sitting in the backseat cuddled up, sleeping.”

The fire has displaced Tina, who is now staying with her son while trying to come to terms with the tragedy. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received and is asking the community for their prayers during this difficult time.

“I would take my animals over everything else that was in that house,” Tina said, underscoring the love and connection the family had with their pets.
