Three Suspects Arrested After Vehicle Burglary and Chase in San Mateo; Stolen Fremont Car Recovered

Yesterday, a suspected car break-in in San Mateo turned into a short pursuit that resulted in the arrest of three people. The 400 block of North Bayshore Boulevard was the scene of a vehicle burglary, according to the San Mateo Police Department, where the perpetrators were trying to steal tools from a utility work truck.

Even though they made a quick getaway in a white Dodge Charger with phony plates, the car was found by San Mateo police thirty minutes later. After spotting the police, the vehicle, which was discovered close to the intersection of Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street, accelerated onto Highway 101 and then Highway 92 until coming to a stop close to the Edgewater exit. The three suspects were only then securely held inside the car. It was stated that the Dodge Charger was taken from Fremont.

Officers detained Ernesto Torres, 25, of Oakland, and Javier Macias, 24, of Hayward, along with a minor inside the stolen vehicle that was loaded with what is believed to be stolen merchandise. Macias and Torres were charged with second-degree burglary, conspiracy to conduct a felony, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Torres was also charged with violating his parole. According to the San Mateo Police Department, both were taken into the San Mateo County Jail.
