Titusville Man, 42, Killed in Crash After Police Lose Contact; Stolen Firearm Found by FHP

TITUSVILLE, Flo. (DDN) – On Friday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a collision that resulted in the death of a man from Titusville.

A single-vehicle collision occurred on Parke Avenue in Titusville, just east of State Road 405, shortly after two in the morning, according to the crash reports. The individual, who was 42 years old, was engaged in the collision.

The unidentified man was not wearing a seatbelt while driving a 2025 Hyundai Elantra westbound on Park Avenue before colliding with a closed gate at the Brevard County dump, running off the roadway and driving into a ditch, FHP reported.

The headlights and taillights of the vehicle were not in operation at the time of the collision, according to a witness who was present at the site.

Following further inquiry, it was discovered that units from the Titusville Police Department had been searching for the driver of the car, but they had lost contact with the vehicle around one mile before the collision took place.

During their investigation, the troopers stated that they were able to retrieve a pistol that had been taken from the vehicle. On Friday morning, there was no additional information that was immediately accessible.
