Tragic Accident in Hempfield Township Man Struck and Killed by Cargo Train on Friday Evening

DDN – In Hempfield Township on Friday evening, a man was discovered dead after being struck by a cargo train. The incident occurred.

A Norfolk Southern cargo train was coming down the tracks at approximately seven o’clock in the evening, according to the public information report that was compiled by the coroner. Charles Boban, who was sixty years old, was wandering near the railroad lines at the time.

The fact that Boban did not withdraw from his position near the tracks, despite the presence of both auditory and visual warning devices, ultimately led to him being hit by the cargo train.

After conducting an investigation, the Westmoreland County Coroner concluded that the cause of death was blunt force injuries brought on by being struck by a train.

Investigations into the collision are being conducted by both the Pennsylvania State Police and the Norfolk Southern Police.
