Donald Trump, who used to be the President, announced his support for David McCormick, a candidate running for Senate in Pennsylvania. He encouraged his followers in the state to vote for McCormick. This Senate race is one of the most fiercely contested ones this year.
Trump endorsed McCormick’s opponent in Pennsylvania’s Senate GOP primary two years ago. Now, Trump has endorsed McCormick, creating a new bond between the two men. This is important because Pennsylvania is a crucial state for controlling the White House and Senate.
“He is a good person. “He wants to effectively manage a successful organization,” Trump said during a rally in the eastern Pennsylvania town of Schnecksville. “He is intelligent. He was a person who achieved a lot of success. “He has sacrificed a lot to do this.”
McCormick, who lives in Connecticut, did not attend the rally. The campaign spokesperson said that he was attending a parents’ weekend with his daughter. McCormick expressed gratitude to President Trump on social media, specifically on the X platform. We will work together to achieve a significant victory for Pennsylvania and America in November.
McCormick, a former CEO of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is attempting to replace Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, who is running for his fourth term. The Associated Press reporter who wrote this report describes Casey as the most well-known politician in Pennsylvania.

Many Americans may not be familiar with Casey, but they are likely more familiar with Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, or even President Joe Biden. This is despite what the local AP reporter claims. Several Republican candidates in Senate battlegrounds had supported Trump early in the GOP presidential primary, campaigned for him, or sought his approval.
McCormick supported Trump after Nikki Haley ended her presidential campaign due to losses on Super Tuesday. This made Trump the only major candidate left for the 2024 Republican nomination. In 2022, McCormick, along with other candidates in the seven-way GOP primary to replace retiring Senator Pat Toomey, sought the endorsement of former President Trump.
According to McCormick, Trump told him during their meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida that in order to win the primary, McCormick would need to address concerns about election integrity. The 2020 election had Pennsylvania using mass mail-in voting and accepting ballots after polls closed, which the Trump campaign argued was done by Democrat leaders without following the proper legal process set by the state legislature.
McCormick chose not to reopen the discussion about the integrity of the 2020 election. Three days later, Trump showed his support for Dr. Mehmet Oz and criticized McCormick. This caused concern among GOP allies who were disappointed that McCormick lost the important endorsement from Trump.
The AP reporter brought up some possible areas of criticism for Democrats, based on previous comments made by Trump. During a rally in western Pennsylvania before the 2022 primary, Trump told the crowd that McCormick is “not MAGA,” referring to his Make America Great Again campaign slogan.
He criticized McCormick for working with a company called the hedge fund, which he said managed money for communist China. He also referred to McCormick as the candidate supported by special interest groups, globalists, and the Washington establishment. Now, in the important state of Pennsylvania, where Democrats have a slim majority in the Senate, Trump and McCormick are forming a new alliance.
