Trump Plans Big Rally in Michigan to Celebrate 100 Days of Presidency

The first rally that President Donald Trump has held since returning to the White House earlier this year will take place in Michigan the following week, marking the momentous occasion of his first hundred days in office.

According to the press secretary for the White House, President Trump will travel to Macomb County on Tuesday. “Automotive hub” refers to the region that is located close to the north of Detroit.

“President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will rally in Macomb County to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!” Karoline Leavitt stated Wednesday on social media.

One day before Trump’s 100th day in office, a customary early milestone where a president’s accomplishments are evaluated against campaign pledges, the rally will take place.

One of the crucial battleground states that Trump turned from Democrats on his way back to the White House last year was Michigan.

Apart from weekend getaways, Trump hasn’t taken many vacations since becoming office.

During the first week of his second term, he made only one additional official travel, visiting disaster areas in California and North Carolina and hosting an event in Las Vegas to promote his proposal to do away with tip taxes.

However, Trump’s first overseas journey of his second term will take him to Rome later this week to attend Pope Francis’ funeral.

Trump’s forthcoming visit to Michigan comes after a string of phone conversations and meetings with Gretchen Whitmer, the state’s well-known Democratic governor.

Whitmer, who was formerly a harsh critic of Trump, has stated that she wants to work with him during his second term.

Whitmer has highlighted Selfridge Air National Guard Base as a crucial area for possible collaboration. The base has long been a source of worry for Whitmer and Michigan lawmakers due to uncertainties surrounding its future as the A-10 aircraft stationed there are phased out.

He is scheduled to make an appearance on Tuesday at the base, which is situated in Macomb County.

During an executive order signing in the Oval Office on April 9—which Whitmer attended—Trump made reference to Selfridge and expressed his desire to maintain the base “open, strong, thriving.”

“I think we’re going to be successful, Governor. I think we’ll be very successful there,” Trump stated about Selfridge.

Trump commended Whitmer during his remarks, but she later claimed that during her visit, she was uninvited inside the Oval Office. She was seen attempting to cover her face with a folder to avoid being photographed.

A representative for the governor responded on Wednesday that they “don’t have anything to share at this time” when asked if Whitmer would join the president in Michigan.

In place of the departing A-10 squadron at Selfridge, Whitmer and other Michigan leaders have long pushed for a new fighter role.

“I repeat and reiterate what I stated in November and many times before over the past year: a fighter mission at Selfridge to recapitalize the A10s is the right path forward for the State of Michigan, the Air Force, and the nation,” Whitmer wrote in a 2023 letter to the secretary of the Air Force during President Joe Biden’s administration, urging the secretary to take action.
