Two players from California who participated in the Mega Millions lottery came very close to winning a total of $760 million.
A Safeway in Morgan Hill, which is located in Santa Clara County, and The Hero Market, which is located in the city of Yucca Valley in San Bernardino County, both sold tickets that matched all five numbers in the drawing that took place on Tuesday night. However, the Mega Ball was not hit, according to the officials of the California Lottery.
On the other hand, the value of those two tickets is $226,328 apiece, rather than the enormous jackpot.
The numbers 56, 66, 67, 68, and 69 were the winning numbers for Thursday’s lottery, and the Mega Ball won was 18. The jackpot for the drawing that will take place on Friday has reached an anticipated amount of $825 million.
The likelihood of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is one in 302,575,350, according to the odds.
In the state of California, public schools receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of lottery tickets, including wins that have not been claimed.
The California Lottery has reportedly raised more than $46 billion for public education since the games were first introduced to the Golden State in the year 1985, according to officials.
