Yesterday during practice takeoffs at Doylestown Airport in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a single-engine aircraft struck a parked aircraft, injuring two people, according to officials. According to NBC Philadelphia, the incident happened on the airfield around the 3800 block of Old Easton Road just before 12:30 p.m.
The plane went off the runway during its climb and then collided with another tiny, empty plane, according to the Buckingham Township police who initially arrived on the site. All of the passengers were able to leave the first plane despite their injuries, police said CBS News Philadelphia.
Two victims of the collision were taken by authorities to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation. In an interview with FOX43, Bucks County spokesperson James O’Malley stated that there were three individuals on board the aircraft, though specifics regarding their status have not been made public.
Meanwhile, Buckingham Township officials stayed at the scene to await the Federal Aviation Administration investigators. The crash’s aftermath was captured on SkyForce10 film, which displayed the damaged planes intertwined on the landing strip. According to a police statement that NBC Philadelphia was able to receive, “First responders found all occupants out of the plane when they arrived.”
