Two Juveniles Detained on Weapons Charges, Linked to Alleged Gang Activity in Santa Rosa

Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) arrested two minors yesterday after receiving a report regarding gun ownership. Concerns were raised at Santa Rosa’s Amarosa Academy after a 16-year-old student allegedly shared pictures of herself online with a gun in her hand and wearing clothing associated with gang activity.

According to a Santa Rosa Police Department social media post, the messaging led detectives to suspect the adolescent might have gang links even though the photos did not indicate the pistol was on school property. Officers searched the juvenile’s home on Stony Point Road after learning that he was on probation and had an active arrest warrant. While the suspect attempted to make his way to the back bedroom, another young person tried to escape by jumping out of the window when police arrived.

Both were quickly taken into custody without any opposition. An unloaded 9mm handgun that matched the one in the pictures was discovered in a living room entertainment stand and later determined to be stolen. A knife was discovered on the 16-year-old during his arrest. In addition, the 15-year-old had two outstanding warrants.

Following his warrant and many firearms violations, the 16-year-old was placed in Juvenile Hall, and his friend was also placed in Juvenile Hall for his outstanding warrants.
