ESCANABA, Mich.(DDN) – According to the Escanaba Department of Public Safety, two individuals were killed and four were injured in a two-vehicle incident in Escanaba on Thursday afternoon.
The Escanaba DPS reports that it was summoned to the intersection of N. Lincoln Road and Danforth Road around 1:20 p.m.
According to police, a southbound Dodge Ram truck towing a snowmobile trailer collided with a Subaru as it attempted to turn westbound onto Danforth Road. The Subaru’s passengers were extricated from the vehicle using Jaws of Life and pronounced dead.
The four occupants inside the truck got out on their own and were transferred to OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victims’ names will not be disclosed until their families have been notified. The crash is still under investigation.
The Escanaba Department of Public Safety reports that the Michigan State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit from the Gladstone Post, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart, Delta County Central Dispatch, and Gene’s Towing all responded.
All lanes of N. Lincoln Road near the intersection of Danforth Road are back open following an incident that closed a segment of the highway Thursday afternoon.
The westbound lanes of that portion of the highway were closed from around 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. due to a significant two-vehicle incident.
There is no additional information available concerning the injuries or their cause. TV6 has emailed Escanaba Public Safety and will update this story when new information becomes available.
Traffic is being redirected on Escanaba’s north side due to a crash on N Lincoln Road.
As of 1:45 p.m., traffic was detoured in both directions near the intersection of N. Lincoln Road and Danforth Road. As of 2:00 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety announced that the westbound lanes of N. Lincoln Road at Danforth will be closed for another half hour.
According to a TV6 reporter on the site, the incident involved two vehicles: a pickup truck carrying a trailer and a smaller passenger vehicle.
Multiple first responders are on the scene, including Escanaba Public Safety, Michigan State Police, and the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.
There has been no information revealed concerning the injuries.
