Two Men Killed in Hyde County Crash When Truck Flips Into Water, North Carolina Authorities Report

HYDE COUNTY, N.C(DDN) – The North Carolina Department of Public Safety reports that two men lost their lives in the early hours of Friday morning when their truck flipped over and were buried in water.

Troopers from the state reacted to the crash that occurred on state game properties in Hyde County shortly after two in the morning. The collision took place on a route that is located off of Outfall Canal Road.

An individual named John Fields, who was 38 years old and from Bracey, Virginia, was operating a Chevrolet truck from the year 2020 and attempting to do a U-turn on a path. It was then that the truck reversed into a canal, which caused the vehicle to flip over onto its roof and then into the water, according to the police.

Timothy Hubert, a resident of Bracey who was also in the vehicle, passed away at the scene of the accident. He was 39 years old.

According to the police, another passenger, Robert Nunnery, who is 33 years old and hails from Grimesland, North Carolina, was able to extract himself from the truck.
