Due to their involvement in Justin Paulo’s murder and armed robbery, which occurred in Taunton on January 5, 2019, two individuals have been given life sentences. Cruz was given a life term without the chance of parole for the murder and a concurrent six- to ten-year sentence for the armed robbery, according to a MassLive story. Middleton received a six- to 10-year sentence for the armed robbery conviction, as well as a life sentence with the chance of parole after 30 years. He is already serving time for a different, unconnected charge of armed robbery.
TurnTo10reports also stated that Paulo’s murder was extremely violent, with the attackers stripping him of his gold chain before stabbing him. Paulo was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by family members after the incident, but he did not recover from his wounds.
Thomas M. Quinn III, the district attorney for Bristol County, emphasized the horrible nature of the offense. In a statement received by MassLive, Quinn stated, “This was a brutal murder that occurred during a violent armed robbery in which the victim resisted his attackers.” He stated that, “A good portion of the incident was captured on a Ring doorbell camera which highlights the critical importance of technology in solving violent crimes.”
