In a devastating early morning incident this weekend, two pedestrians were struck and killed along I-10 in downtown El Paso. The El Paso Police Department reported that the victims, a 33-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl, were attempting to cross the interstate when the accident occurred.

According toKFOX-TV, the call was received at 12:29 a.m., and the police’s Special Traffic Investigators quickly arrived on site. A 2002 Silver Mitsubishi Montero, driven by 56-year-old Jose Antonio Gutierrez, was identified as the vehicle involved in the initial collision while crossing I-10 at Exit 19B south to north.

Following the first impact, a second vehicle reportedly struck one of the pedestrians already on the ground but fled the scene. This second vehicle, which could be a silver SUV or minivan with Texas plates, has yet to be identified, and the driver is described as a man weighing around 200 pounds and about 5 feet, 10 inches tall.
