Two individuals sustained severe injuries following a collision in Brown County, Ohio, that took place on the night last Saturday. The incident involved a 2010 Ford F-150 and a 2001 Mazda MPV at an intersection on US Route 68 and Oakland Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers from the Georgetown Post responded to the scene shortly after 7:39 p.m. and continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

According toFOX19, 22-year-old William Freimuth was driving the Ford westbound on Oakland Road. Melissa Lakes, 43, was traveling southbound on US Route 68 in the Mazda when the pickup entered the intersection and was subsequently struck by the minivan. After the collision, the Ford veered off the left side of the road, impacting a utility pole, whereas the Mazda ended up in a ditch on the same side.

WHIOreported that both Lakes and a passenger in her vehicle, 21-year-old Charity Effinger from Mount Orab, were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. Freimuth was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was reportedly not injured.

Details are still emerging as the investigation ensues. The authorities have not yet clarified whether factors such as speed, drugs, or alcohol were involved in the incident.
