Tragedy struck late last night in Northwest Jacksonville, as gunfire claimed a man’s life at the intersection of New Kings Road and Edgewood Avenue. According to

, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the male victim succumbed to at least one gunshot wound despite being rushed to the hospital. The incident was first reported at 11:48 p.m., and though first responders transported the victim to seek medical attention, he was pronounced dead overnight.

In a nearby but apparently unrelated incident, Jacksonville police were called to a second scene just four miles away.
