U.S. Border Patrol agents rescue trapped driver from flooded ditch in Upper Peninsula

(CBS DETROIT) On Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol officers rescued a driver who was stuck in a flooded ditch on the Upper Peninsula.

The rollover collision near Paradise was attended to by agents on snowmobile patrol in the area. According to officials, the driver was stuck inside the car when it rolled into a sizable water-filled ditch.

Agents entered the car through a window when they got there and tried to remove the driver, but the driver was stuck by the steering wheel. To keep the driver from drowning, agents raised their head out of the water and deflated an air bag.

Agents used lumber to slow the truck’s descent into the lake and collaborated with onlookers to secure the car to a tree.

Following that, agents helped the Whitefish Township Fire Department remove the driver from the car.

Chief Patrol Agent John Morris issued a statement saying, “I’m proud of the agents who responded quickly to this potentially tragic event and didn’t hesitate to climb into the vehicle to help the trapped motorist.” “The quick thinking and selfless actions of these agents and bystanders allowed the precious time necessary for more help to arrive.”

For treatment, the motorist was brought to a nearby hospital.
