Upcoming Road Closures in Arlington: How to Navigate the Southeast Connector Project’s Impact on U.S. 287 and I-820

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced temporary closures on U.S. 287 and I-820 as part of the ongoing Southeast Connector Project. The $2.1 billion venture aims to rebuild and widen about 11 miles of I-20, I-820, and US 287, a significant overhaul expected to extend through 2027. For those who regularly traverse the east and southeast parts of Tarrant County, these updates from theCity of Arlingtonare crucial for sidestepping traffic headaches.

One notable interruption in the usual flow will be the overnight closure of the southbound U.S. 287 interchange ramp at I-820 on Nov. 18-19. Additionally, the southbound US 287 entrance ramp from Village Creek Road will be out of commission during the same nights.

The City of Arlington has partnered with the traffic navigation app Waze to help drivers navigate around these temporary roadblocks. By downloading Waze for free, motorists can access real-time traffic conditions, ideal route planning, and warnings of road closures.
