UPDATE: Columbus Police Detain Suspect After Pursuit, Ricardo Ramirez Accused in Murder of Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga

After a manhunt that including SWAT, investigators have apprehended the culprit in the fatal shooting that occurred in Columbus’ 5000 Block of Princess Lane. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Columbus Police SWAT officers captured Ricardo Ramirez, the man involved in the incident, according to the Columbus Division of Police. He is currently being charged with Alejandro Lopez-Lechuga’s murder.

When cops first arrived on the scene, they found the victim, who had been shot, and provided assistance until Columbus Fire Medic #6 could finish saving lives. Lopez-Lechuga was declared dead at 12:55 am, despite prompt evacuation and treatment at a nearby hospital. The investigation into this unfortunate tragedy is still ongoing, the Columbus Police have stressed.

Under the direction of Detective Matthew Smith and assisted by Detective Mark Smith, the Columbus Police Homicide Unit is spearheading the investigation.
