Charges have been filed against Michael Dewayne Wilkerson, 39, in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman on South Post Oak Road earlier this week. According to the

, Wilkerson has been charged with capital murder and tampering/fabricating physical evidence. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at a business at 14370 South Post Oak Road, where they ended up discovering the unresponsive victim. Having suffered from gunshot wounds, and later identified as 29-year-old Darrell Lynn Tikisha King, quickly pronounced deceased by the Houston Fire Department paramedics. King was reportedly an employee at the business location.

A subsequent investigation by the HPD Homicide Division, led by Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow, indicated that Wilkerson, who had a previous dating relationship with King, was the prime suspect. On the following day, Wednesday, Wilkerson was apprehended without incident by the HPD Southwest Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team. He was later processed and booked into the Harris County Jail.
