Upper Arlington Gears Up for Columbia Gas Infrastructure Overhaul in 2025

Residents of Upper Arlington are bracing for significant construction projects slated to commence in 2025 as Columbia Gas embarks on a series of substantial infrastructure upgrades. These upgrades

aim to enhance the efficiency and safety of the city’s gas supply. According to details released on the

City of Upper Arlington’s website

, the utility will replace aging high-pressure gas lines with new 20-inch diameter steel pipes and construct two above-ground

utility stations.

The work will commence near Upper Arlington High School in Spring/Summer 2025, with efforts to minimize disruption. Columbia Gas has committed to actively engaging with residents, promising to mail updates and hold public meetings to keep the community in the loop. Columbia Gas has scheduled a public meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Tremont Library to discuss its construction plans further.

The city of Upper Arlington is closely coordinating with Columbia Gas to mitigate the effects on local neighborhoods. This includes managing traffic, parking, and the timing of concurrent city-led infrastructure projects. The City Code constrains construction to 7:30 a.m.- 7 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, although exceptions can be made to accelerate project completion or for critical work phases.

Any proposed projects impacting the above-ground environment need to pass through the City’s Board of Zoning and Planning (BZAP) by residential compatibility standards. Public comments can be directly submitted for PUCO’s review and ruling on the project, ensuring that residents’ voices are heard. Columbia Gas has detailed project information forthcoming on its webpage and has provided contact options for Public Affairs Project Specialist Leah Lewis, available via email at
