Urbana Hit-and-run Leaves Two Dead Police Hunt Driver Who Fled After Rear-end Collision

URBANA, Ill.(DDN) – A second passenger died in a hit-and-run in Urbana on Sunday. Chloe Polzin, a 21-year-old female from Deerfield, Illinois, died from her injuries.

At 1:55 a.m., a Honda Civic stopped at a red light and was struck from behind by a fast-moving Mitsubishi SUV. The crash severely damaged both vehicles and injured all five Civic occupants.

The Urbana Fire Department responded to the scene to remove the passengers and take life-saving measures.

Katherine J. Abraham, 20, a passenger in the Civic, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities have yet to locate the SUV’s driver, who fled the scene on foot, heading southbound on Coler Avenue. Detectives from the Urbana Police Department and an accident reconstruction investigator are actively investigating the scene.
