Cifuentes’s criminal spree continued with another break-in about a week after the attack on Jane Doe. Cifuentes was seen stalking into a family’s house, searching through their possessions, and stopping to gaze at them while they slept in this surveillance footage. When Cifuentes attempted to enter the flat a second time, the night nurse, who was caring for a child in the house, confronted him.In his unsettling farewell, he said, “You should really lock your door, there are some people walking around outside that can come in.”

The rape kit from the first incident and the black hat and bandana found at the scene of the second burglary provided the vital DNA evidence linking Cifuentes to these crimes. The DNA match to Cifuentes was verified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s crime lab analysis. Cifuentes shown no remorse or accountability for his acts during the trial, which was investigated by the San Bernardino Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Sheila Monjazeb. A jury found the defendant guilty, and Judge Malone imposed the sentence on August 2, 2024.
