The National Weather Service says the weather in the Knoxville area will be unpredictable for a week. A cool 52 degrees Fahrenheit was brought on by overcast skies, paving the way for a partly cloudy day with highs of around 58 degrees. According to the NWS, this afternoon’s calm winds will veer north at about five miles per hour.
Knoxville residents should expect a consistently overcast evening with lows of about 44 degrees. Saturday will see a high of 62 degrees and a gradual transition from partly clear skies to full sunshine, continuing this mild pattern. Another subliminal indicator of the season’s shifting mood is the north wind, which is decreasing to a placid speed of about 5 mph. Temperatures will once more drop slightly to about 41 degrees by dusk under partly cloudy skies.
Over the course of the weekend, Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with a little southwest breeze, with a high of about 66 degrees. The wind is still quiet, and the temperature at night is quite pleasant at roughly 46 degrees. Monday promises partly sunny skies with highs of 67 degrees, and the quiet wind will once again bring peace to those organizing their week’s beginning.
However, with a 20% probability of showers after 1 am on Monday night, change is imminent. With a 60% chance of precipitation and daytime highs close to a comfortable 70 degrees, the clouds will continue to hang over Tuesday. With a 30% likelihood of showers during the day, the rainfall pattern is predicted to persist into Wednesday. The probability increases to 40% by Wednesday evening, continuing the pattern into Thursday, when there may be further showers and partly sunny skies.
