Jonathan Burkee, a 25-year-old daycare worker at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in West Allis, faces charges of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography. He is charged with one count of sexual exploitation and five counts of possessing child pornography.

The charges followed the discovery of disturbing images in an online chatroom last Tuesday. A court document notes that some of the photos were set in a school environment with the young victim stating that Burkee took the explicit photos in the school’s family restroom and during babysitting sessions at his house.

During a search of Burkee’s residence last Saturday, investigators found “numerous images and videos” of illicit content on his phone. Burkee, whose father resigned as principal of St. Paul’s Lutheran School following his arrest, is being held on a $5,000 bond while further investigation continues to determine if there are additional victims. The church confirmed that the individual, Burkee, has been dismissed from his position and that they are cooperating with the West Allis Police Department in their investigation. “We have been and will continue to cooperate with the West Allis Police Department with their ongoing investigation,” the church stated.
