DDN – A 44-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested for allegedly attempting to enter a private home on State Highway 56 in western Wisconsin.
According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, complaints came in at about 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 4 of someone attempting to enter the home.
The victims described hearing pleas for aid from outside, according to the announcement. Around 5:30 a.m., the suspect, Joel Davis of West Salem, was apprehended as the investigation continued. Davis, who was uninjured, was detained and brought to Vernon County Detention Center.

Davis was allegedly scheduled to appear in Vernon County Circuit Court on Monday for a bail hearing. Formal charges have not yet been determined.
Davis was released on extended supervision in July 2024, two years after being sentenced to four years in state prison for various narcotics counts. Officers felt that drug use played a role in the event on Saturday.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no other information was supplied.
