Westport Police have announced with heavy hearts the passing of their beloved comfort dog, K-9 Barry.

Around the station he was affectionately known as “Barry The Dog”.

PD states that Barry was more than just a member of the Westport Police Department, he was family. He and his handler, Officer Kyle Fernandes, could be seen throughout town. Over the years, he brought comfort, joy, and calm to countless members of our community. Whether visiting schools or attending various community events, Barry served with unwavering loyalty and love.

He had a special way of making everyone feel happy. His gentle soul and wagging tail brought joy and happiness to all those he came in contact with, according to WPD

“We are deeply grateful for the time we had with Barry and for the positive impact he made on so many lives. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Thank you, Barry, for your service and your heart. Rest easy, good boy.”
