Winter Haven Head-on Collision Leaves One Dead, Driver Facing Potential Charges

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (DDN) – According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a man was killed in a head-on incident early Saturday near Winter Haven, and another was seriously injured.

The crash happened on State Road 60, roughly half a mile east of Logistics Parkway, according to the sheriff’s office on social media.

According to the post, a 2004 Nissan Sentra moving east on S.R. 60 was hit head-on by a 2022 Hyundai Sonata driving west in the eastbound lanes.

When first responders arrived, they discovered that the driver of the Nissan, identified as Orli Dagoberto Argueta Sanchez, 35, of Eagle Lake, had died inside, according to the post.

The 27-year-old Lake Wales man driving the Hyundai was brought to the hospital for treatment of significant injuries, according to the sheriff’s office, and criminal charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
