Wisconsin Man Suspected of Staging Disappearance Alive, Location Still Unknown Despite Sheriff’s Contact

Another twist has been added to the story of Ryan Borgwardt, the Wisconsin man who vanished in August while kayaking and was thought to have staged his own death. Although his precise whereabouts is still unknown, the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office stated that they had gotten in touch with Borgwardt and that he is alive. According to FOX6, Sheriff Mark Podoll also stated that attempts are still being made to persuade Borgwardt to return home.

A 45-year-old father and husband vanished after going kayaking on Big Green Lake, prompting authorities to begin a thorough search. Authorities suspected a planned disappearance after seeing his vehicle and an unattended kayak with a life jacket close to the lake. As reported by News Nation Now, officials are set to give more case updates at a press conference today at 11 a.m. CT.

The local sheriff’s office is working with the FBI and other agencies to investigate the disappearance of Ryan Borgwardt. On the day of his disappearance, Borgwardt was found to have changed his banking details, wiped his hard drives, and got a second passport, all of which suggested premeditation. Additionally, investigators discovered that he had communicated with an Uzbek woman, suggesting that he may have had foreign ties. Later, a woman who speaks only Russian was able to communicate with Borgwardt. “The good news is that we know Ryan is alive,” Sheriff Podoll said. The bad news is that Borgwardt hasn’t made up his mind to go back home yet, and we don’t know exactly where he is.” According to Upper Michigan’s Source, authorities are looking for video evidence of his identify in order to shed light on the matter.
