Woman Dies After Possible Drowning in Kealakekua Bay with Hawai‘i Island Police Investigating

A 29-year-old woman was found face down in the water with snorkeling gear on Sunday morning in Kealakekua Bay. The

Hawaii Police Department

is investigating the possible drowning, and the woman’s name has not been released.

At around 10:24 a.m., Kona patrol officers were alerted to the scene where bystanders had already started helping. They used a paddleboard to bring the woman to shore and performed CPR. A nearby boat, unaware of her identity, rushed her to land while continuing life-saving efforts until medics took over. Despite efforts to revive her, the woman was pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital. Her identity has not been released as authorities notify her family.
