Woman Killed in Crash on I-75 After Losing Control and Getting Dragged for About 800 feet on Road in Michigan

DETROIT, Mich. (DDN) – A woman lost her life in a crash on I-75 close to Woodward Heights Boulevard early Thursday morning.

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 6:40 a.m., a woman driving a Jeep Compass on northbound I-75 lost control of her vehicle. As a result, she began to spin into the path of a gravel hauler that was also heading north on the freeway, according to Michigan State Police.

A gravel hauler collided with the woman’s car on the driver’s side, pushing it approximately 750 feet before coming to a stop.

Authorities reported that the woman passed away at the location. The driver of the gravel hauler was unharmed.

Michigan State Police report that the woman’s family has not yet been informed, as they are still attempting to contact them from another state.

A man believed to have attacked a 7-year-old girl while she was walking home from school last month in the Woodland Heights area is now on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List.

Carlos Jose Ayala Morales, 43, is now included on the list maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

US Marshals officials have confirmed to KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force is participating in the search for Ayala.

Ayala is currently sought by authorities in Harris County for attempting to engage in indecency with a child through sexual contact. The event took place just after 3 p.m. on January 27. HPD reported that Ayala “inappropriately grabbed and touched” the girl while she was walking in the 800 block of Omar Street.

Ayala, originally from Honduras, has a criminal history that features a burglary conviction from 2000 related to a Dallas building, leading to a six-month prison sentence.
