A violent assault occurred at the W 125 St and St Nicholas Avenue subway station in Harlem, where a woman was attacked, slashed, and then pushed onto the tracks this past Tuesday night. According to

, the incident happened around 10:50 p.m., and the New York Police Department said that an unknown assailant approached the 37-year-old victim from behind, grabbing her hair and slashing her face with a sharp object, the perpetrator fled the scene immediately afterward, leaving the woman injured on the tracks.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was quickly transported to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital where she was reported to be in stable condition, notwithstanding the violence inflicted upon her that night which was so unexpected as the assailant made his escape before she could get a clear view of him, leaving her in a state of shock. The NYPD has launched a manhunt for the alleged attacker, identified as Michael Blount, a 29-year-old male described as 5’9” and around 185 pounds, with a photo of Blount released to aid in his capture.
