Wrong-way Driver From New York Killed in Multi-vehicle Crash on New Jersey Turnpike (2)

DDN – A wrong-way motorist from New York was killed and three people injured in a multi-vehicle incident on the New Jersey Turnpike early Sunday morning, Jan. 19, according to NJ State Police.

Ramin Shakhgusegynov, 44, of Brooklyn, NY, was driving a Volvo SUV southbound in the northbound lanes when he collided with three vehicles at 4:20 a.m. on the northbound inner roadway near milepost 96.9 in Linden, NJSP Sgt. Charles Marchan reported.

The Volvo crashed with a Jeep driven by a 64-year-old Carmel, New York man. A Honda

minivan driven by a 38-year-old Carteret guy follows the Jeep.

A Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old Colonia man then collided with the Volvo, Marchan added.

Shakhgusegynov died, and the other drivers sustained mild to moderate injuries, according to authorities. The collision is still under investigation, and no other information was immediately available.
