A measure for holiday peace of mind has been unveiled by the Wylie Police Department. To prevent theft throughout the holiday season, residents will have access to a safe package delivery service starting on December 1. Announced on social media, this campaign addresses growing worries about parcel theft, sometimes known as “porch piracy.”
The service, which is only available to Wylie residents, will run from December 1 to December 22. Online purchases made by citizens can be redirected to the police station, where they will be held until they are picked up. The official notification includes the address that people should use to contact the Wylie Police Department. The deadline for picking up all packages is December 22. Packages submitted to this service must be reported to Community Relations Officer Waters at [email protected] in order to ensure notification upon delivery.
Residents who want to use this service should try to keep their items under 50 pounds, and they must provide official identity when they pick them up. There are special rules for packages meant for children. With prior notification, longer hours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for this service, which is considered to have no related costs and runs within the department’s regular business hours.
This service is provided by the Wylie Police Department in an effort to reduce parcel theft during the holidays. Any damage that occurs during transit is not the department’s responsibility. Residents are reassured by this approach that porch pirates won’t target their holiday deliveries.
