Year-Long Search for Missing Mount Dora Mother Continues as Police Treat Case as Homicide

It has been over a year since Nicole Baldwin, a 41-year-old mother, vanished from Mount Dora, and the search for her continues with detectives pleading for any clues that the public may provide. Baldwin, described by police as 5′5″ tall and weighing approximately 135 pounds, with brown or blonde hair and hazel eyes, was last seen in a pink nightgown with distinctive tattoos—a single rose on her right hand and flowers on her left shoulder down to her elbow.

The Mount Dora Police Department, still investigating Baldwin’s case that’s now being treated as a homicide, shares the agony of a family desperate for answers. As reported by WFTV, a $10,000 reward has been offered for information on her disappearance. The community remains involved in the search for Baldwin, last seen by her 20-year-old daughter at her home on Strathmore Circle off County Road 44.

According to ClickOrlando, investigators have emphasized their belief that Baldwin did not leave on her own accord. Notably, Baldwin’s husband, Brett Baldwin, was arrested over a month after her disappearance on a federal charge related to possessing child pornography found on his cellphone while it was seized as evidence in the missing person’s investigation. Following the arrest, Brett moved from Mount Dora with the couple’s minor children and was planning a relocation to North Carolina.

“It’s extremely hard to solve a homicide without any remains, so we’re going to continue to look,” Detective Gary Hutcheson stated, as per ClickOrlando. In an extensive effort to find Baldwin, the detective revealed that approximately 200 search warrants and subpoenas had been executed in connection with the case. Police are hopeful that the public can aid in locating Baldwin and are urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting detectives at (352) 735-7130 or calling Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
