The Yolo County Office of Emergency Services (OES) has launched ‘Yolo Ready,’ a program to improve neighborhood preparedness for disasters. The initiative provides local residents with the resources and tools needed to respond effectively during the early stages of a crisis, as per the

.
Yolo Ready launched with a Health and Safety Fair on October 17 at Rancho Yolo. The event featured over 20 local organizations offering information and services to enhance community readiness and resilience.
Yolo Ready focuses on creating neighbor-helping systems, which are vital in the first hour of a disaster to prevent injuries, reduce property damage, and save lives. “Yolo Ready is about building stronger, safer neighborhoods by empowering residents to take care of each other when it matters most,” said Kristin Weivoda, Yolo County’s Chief of Emergency Services, in a

. Participants are expected to develop emergency response plans for their communities, identifying available skills, resources, and actions to take after a disaster, as well as organizing response teams.
To support residents in developing these plans, the OES offers a 90-minute workshop that can be accessed virtually or attended in person. The workshop includes comprehensive materials, step-by-step instructions, and expert guidance. Details about the program and information on scheduling a workshop can be found on
