Young businesspeople who are passionate about sustainable agriculture are preparing to present their green business concepts at an event akin to Shark Tank. DeKalb County reports that the EMBARC Youth Farm will host the competition on November 19 at the Bruce Street East DeKalb Senior Center in Lithonia, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Participants in the EMBARC program have spent the last ten months learning the ins and outs of planting, harvesting, food production, and sales techniques firsthand and then passing that knowledge on to others. This culminates in their opportunity to showcase innovative company ideas focused on sustainability and expanding access to nutritious food in their locality.
In addition to giving these young business owners a stage on which to showcase their inventiveness and commercial savvy, the event will emphasize their capacity to promote long-term community development. Each contestant will be up against a panel of judges who will offer criticism and insights to help advance these emerging concepts. According to the DeKalb County official website, the initiative recognizes the importance of the challenge and emphasizes the transformative potential of these young brains in fostering innovation in sustainable agriculture.
Prizes will be awarded to winning initiatives based on their exceptional inventiveness, viability for implementation, and capacity to have a major and constructive influence on the community.
