Prosecutors presented compelling evidence during a court hearing related to the murder of Samantha Woll, a prominent Jewish leader in metro Detroit. This evidence included phone records and a jacket stained with Woll’s blood.

The suspect charged with killing Woll, Michael Jackson-Bolanos, appeared in court for the preliminary examination. A suspect has been apprehended several weeks after a tragic incident unfolded in Detroit, where the victim was discovered deceased outside her home, having suffered from numerous stab wounds.

Accompanying the evidence were a total of seven witnesses who testified in court. A majority of the individuals involved were law enforcement officers hailing from Detroit police, Michigan State Police, and a special agent from the FBI. Multiple individuals were involved in different aspects of the homicide investigation, which commenced on October 21 after a local resident discovered Woll. After an extensive investigation spanning several weeks, the police made an arrest on November 30 in connection with her murder.

According to Elizabeth Stockmeyer, the state police trooper overseeing the investigation, a search warrant was executed at Jackson-Bolanos’ residence. During the search, law enforcement discovered a number of clothing items and electronic devices.

A black-colored North Face jacket, which the defendant was seen wearing on closed-caption television the night of Woll’s murder, was among the items seized as evidence.

Upon examination, the medical examiner discovered traces of blood on the jacket, indicating the presence of two individuals. It is highly probable that one of the individuals, Woll, was the intended recipient of the blood. An assistant prosecutor has presented a report stating that the likelihood of the evidence originating from Woll and an unidentified individual is “2.2 trillion times higher” compared to it coming from two unknown individuals.

During the cross-examination by defense attorney Brian Brown, Stockmeyer was questioned about the cleanliness of the jacket. She confirmed that it indeed appeared clean.

In court, FBI special agent Brian Toltzis provided testimony regarding the cell phone location of Jackson-Bolanos on the night of the murder. According to Toltzis, the cell towers detected multiple locations that the suspect had visited on the night of Woll’s murder. The crime scene on Joliet Place, where Woll resided, was among the areas investigated.

Jackson-Bolanos has been charged with homicide, breaking and entering, and providing false information to a peace officer. Additional witnesses are set to testify for the prosecution, and a video compilation featuring cell phone tracking data and CCTV footage will be presented as evidence.
