Orlando Felon Byron Louder Sentenced to 40 Months for Illegal Firearm Possession

Orlando man Byron Louder, aged 35, has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron handed down this sentence earlier, as reported by the

U.S. Attorney’s Office

for the Middle District of Florida. On December 25, 2022, Louder was observed by law enforcement engaging in suspicious activities in a business parking lot.

According to records obtained from the court, officers noted Louder’s possession of a gun while engaging in seemingly quick transactions on a day when most would celebrate the quiet of the holiday. After detaining the ski-masked individual drinking liquor, the firearm—a Sig Sauer pistol—was recovered from Louder’s waistband. Notably, due to his past convictions of at least three felonies, Louder was federally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case against Louder was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative to reduce violent crimes and gun violence. An enhancement strategy launched on May 26, 2021, has bolstered the initiative.

In the proceedings that led to Louder’s sentencing, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Orlando Police Department played crucial roles in the investigation. The collective efforts of law enforcement signal an ongoing commitment to upholding public safety and reducing gun-related violence.
