Fatal Crash in Amarillo Leaves One Dead and Two Injured After Unsafe Lane Change

AMARILLO, Texas (DDN) – On Monday afternoon, a terrible incident in the 5300 block of Hillside Road killed a 37-year-old man and left two others injured.

At about 1:38 p.m., officers responded to the scene where Dylan Thomas Bird’s 2015 Subaru collided with a 2012 Ford Focus.

Bird was driving eastbound in the inside lane when he attempted an unsafe lane change, which caused both vehicles to collide and lose control.

The cars then hit a house and a wooden electricity pole.

The bird died from his injuries at the scene.

A child passenger in the Subaru suffered minor injuries and was sent to a local hospital. The 31-year-old driver of the Ford Focus had non-life-threatening injuries and was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
