Detroit Workplace Targeted in Fiery Assault by Ex-Worker, Two Women Burned

In an attack on the west side of Detroit, two women suffered severe burns. James White, the head of Detroit police, described it as one of the worst incidents he has ever encountered.

It happened at a company on West Grand Boulevard, close to Hubbard Street, on Monday, September 9, while workers were getting ready for work.

According to reports, a man who resigned his job a few weeks ago was waiting in the parking lot when he attacked two women who were arriving for work shortly after six in the morning.

He is accused of lighting the women on fire after dousing them in gasoline. It is believed by the authorities that he was waiting for someone to arrive, and that the two women were the first to do so.

When witnesses realized what had happened, they tackled the man and kept him down until help could arrive.

The two women were taken to a neighboring hospital after suffering severe burns. We anticipate their survival.

“This is absurd and it’s sad,” White stated. “Thank goodness the two victims are likely to survive from their injuries — at least physical injuries. Emotional injuries? Probably not. It’s just horrific.”
