Frustrated Man Beat His Girlfriend's Kid to Death After Breaking Both of His Legs

In Nevada, a 28-year-old man is charged with killing the 17-month-old kid of his girlfriend by reportedly beating him to death in what the medical examiner described as one of the worst abuse instances he had ever witnessed.

Following his arrest last week, Christian Moniz Rabino was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two charges of child abuse or neglect resulting in serious bodily damage for the death of Kai Tesoro, a young kid.

On June 1, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that a toddler was not breathing.

When first responders arrived at the incident, they found the youngster, later identified as Kai, and promptly rushed him to the Summerlin Pediatrics Emergency Room for treatment.

At the hospital, physicians discovered that Kai had bruising on his head and several brain bleeds that were thought to be the result of “non-accidental trauma,” most likely from vigorous shaking.

One of the doctors told police that the assault was “one of the worst cases he had seen” in his whole career.

The infant also has a broken leg, most likely caused by “a large amount of force.”

According to a report from Henderson, Nevada Fox station KVVU, Moniz Rabino told cops at the hospital that he was watching Kai and decided to contact 911 when the boy began having difficulty breathing and eventually stopped breathing. He explained that Kai had been sick with a fever for the preceding few days.

Kai’s mother reportedly informed hospital staff that Kai had lately fallen out of bed. However, medical officials highlighted in their report that the boy’s injuries did not match such a fall.

On June 1, the youngster was admitted to the hospital and placed on life support. On June 6, he died as a result of his injuries, after being taken off life support.

Witnesses told police that Moniz Rabino was to blame for Kai’s injuries and that his mother lied about him falling from the bed. According to the witness, Moniz Rabino also persuaded Kai’s mother that her son did not need to be hospitalized for treatment.

During a subsequent questioning, Kai’s mother allegedly testified to witnessing Moniz Rabino physically attack Kai on at least one occasion.

“(Moniz Rabino) became frustrated with (Kai’s) inability to walk on his own and planted (Kai’s) feet first on the floor,” police added. Kai’s legs were both fractured as a result of the violent outburst.

She also claims to have witnessed Moniz Rabino become agitated by Kai’s weeping and aggressively shake him at least once.

Moniz Rabino is now detained at the Clark County Detention Center without bond. He is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on August 7, according to records.
