Group Advocates for Teaching About the Holocaust and Genocide

A new nonprofit organization, Voices for Truth and Humanity, has recently emerged in Syosset, spearheaded by Jericho resident Jack Britvan. The organization’s primary objective is to advocate for mandatory Holocaust and genocide education across schools in the United States, starting from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Jack Britvan, the President of Voices for Truth and Humanity, expressed a passionate commitment to ensuring that every student in America learns about the atrocities of the Holocaust and other genocides. “We’re working tirelessly to make Holocaust and genocide education mandatory nationwide, reaching students from K through 12,” Britvan emphasized.

The initiative has already gained significant momentum, with seventeen states already adopting comprehensive Holocaust and genocide education programs. Leaders such as New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Roger Tilles, a distinguished member of the New York State Board of Regents, have extended their support to Britvan’s cause.

Britvan underscores the critical importance of educating students about historical events that underscore the dangers of bigotry and hatred leading to mass persecution and murder. “Too many students across the country are not adequately learning about the Holocaust and other genocides,” Britvan lamented, “which limits their understanding of history and the profound lessons it teaches us.”

He stresses that the phrase “Never Again” must transcend rhetoric to become a living commitment to remember and prevent future atrocities. Roger Tilles echoed these sentiments, highlighting the imperative of teaching these lessons to combat anti-Semitism, racial intolerance, and extremist ideologies effectively.
