Honesdale
The Wayne County Historical Society museum in Honesdale has further information about this community, which became the first in the country to own a steam locomotive in 1829. Even the Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive in US history, is fully scaled!
Because Honesdale is home to so much Victorian architecture, strolling through downtown is also a delightful experience.
Though Dyberry Forks is a “farm to fork” restaurant drawn from Honesdale’s past, Maude Alley is a varied and attractive collection of stores with a secret garden at the back.

Hikers will find nirvana in the small Poconos mountain community of Dingmans Ferry, which is surrounded by excellent hiking routes and breathtaking scenery, especially the one that leads to Dingmans Falls.

The Pocono Environmental Education Center is located in the town, which is not surprising. This nonprofit group assists and accommodates anyone wishing to hike in and around Dingmans Ferry in conjunction with the National Park Service.
