Instagram Model Accused of Killing Two in Crash While on ‘Pink Cocaine’ Stays Behind Bars

Miami-Dade, Flo. (DDN) – A Florida court determined Thursday that an Instagram model charged with killing two men in a deadly crash will not be able to recover her two iPads and iPhone because they have evidentiary value. Prosecutors in Miami-Dade County are attempting to break past the phone’s password protection in order to determine whether the devices have any evidence on 24-year-old Maecee Lather’s whereabouts on August 10, 2024.

Authorities say she was driving a Mercedes at 7 a.m. that day, high on “pink cocaine.” She allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a Suzuki. Abraham Molina and his companion Jesus Rubio were killed in the crash, and Molina’s fiancée Juanita Hernandez was injured while on their way to work. Minutes later, Lathers informed cops that she was “from the future.” A third car, a Range Rover, was also present.

Prosecutors want her electronic devices preserved in light of the substance-related charges in her vehicular manslaughter case.

Bodycam footage showed Lathers puking on the street following the crash, yelling and telling authorities, “My name is Mercedes!”

In the footage, the cops could then be heard saying that Lathers admitted to using the ketamine-based party drug “tusi” or “2C,” sometimes known as “pink cocaine.”

“Awesome, amazing,” a male officer at the scene replied. “Are you on drugs?”

Authorities believe Lathers was driving without a license and sped “at 100%” from 57 mph to 78 mph, causing the fatal crash.

Prosecutors previously sought and gained pretrial detention. The judge described Lathers as “extremely dangerous.” She remains in jail.
