Maine’s lowest-paid employees are about to make more money. The state’s minimum wage increase is set to go into effect on January 1.
The statewide wage increase will bump employee pay from $14.15 to $14.65 per hour.
The increase will also affect tipped workers, bringing their base pay up from $7.08 an hour to $7.33 per hour plus tips.
This means service employees must receive at least a direct cash wage of $7.33 per hour from their employer.
